Sister Virginia Varley: New Chair of ICA

Virginia Varley, a Sister of St Joseph of Toronto since 1947, is an educator, an administrator, an artist and a spiritual director. In May of 2006 she was elected Chair of the Institute for Cultural Affairs of Canada; she had been a member of the Board since 2000.

Two Residents Win Cressy Award

Two 4th year graduating students of St. Joseph’s College were awarded the Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Awards on March 7. On the executive of St. Mike’s Rabanus Project, Julia Lauwers, pictured above with college Dean Anne Marie Marrin CSJ to her left and Annamaria Enenajor to her right, helped promote Christianity as a cultural phenomenon by organizing presentation and planning meetings with others enrolled in the Christianity and Culture program. Annamaria sang in the college’s liturgical choir, and volunteered both for the Chaplaincy Team and the Into the Cold Program.

Sr. Marie Zelie Receives Legion Appreciation

Sr. Marie Zelie Gignac CSJ and the Sisters of St. Joseph received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Royal Canadian Legion in Missisauga, Branch 582, for contributing to the legion's Wheelchair Project. Sr. Marie has been collecting the pop tabs from pop cans at Morrow Park for the past four years.
