Blue Scarf Earth Day Walk

Event Date: 
April 22, 2018 - 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Please consider joining this Earth Day event on Sunday, April 22. There will be an initial gathering from 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Cardinal Flahiff Basilian Centre at 95 St. Joseph Street to prepare posters for the walk while enjoying a pizza lunch.

The walk will begin at Queen's Park (north end) and go from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. You can click here to see the poster. 

 

 

International Women’s Day

Feast Day of St. Josephine Bakhita: Prayer and Resources

February 8 is the feast day of Saint Josephine Bakhita, a Canossian Sister who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in Sudan but eventually won her freedom. Consequently, February 8 is also the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking.

Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada Becomes a Blue Community: Working Towards Making Clean Water a Human Right

On December 10, UN Human Rights Day, the Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Canada will become the first group of religious communities in Canada to be designated a "Blue Community" which supports the right to safe drinking water.

National Housing Day – November 22

In 1998, the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee declared homelessness to be a national disaster by means of a “State of Emergency Declaration.” This formal statement was immediately endorsed by various individuals, community agencies, faith groups, labour unions and government entities.
