Good-humoured nun Sister Mary Alban Bouchard devoted her life to peace

Toronto Star, Sept. 16, 2013 — For Sister Mary Alban Bouchard, on a 1978 trip to New York for a UN special session on disarmament, it was meeting the Hibakusha — the survivors of the American atomic bombs dropped on Japan — that made her a fierce proponent for peace.

Sister Mary Alban Receives Teacher of Peace Award

Pax Christi Toronto presented Sister Mary Alban Bouchard CSJ with its first ever Teacher of Peace Award on August 28, 2013 at the new Sisters of St. Joseph Residence in Toronto.
 
This award was presented in recognition of Sister Mary Alban's lifetime achievement of dedicated commitment to world leadership in both Canada and Haiti for the cause of Peace on Earth.

World Refugee Day in Toronto

On June 20, 2013, celebrations for World Refugee Day in Toronto are planned from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Yonge and Dundas Square. Becoming Neighbours is pleased to share the attached prayer service to honour this day.
 
The day will highlight the courage and perseverance shown by refugees in overcoming enormous odds to rebuild their lives.
