Nuns on the Run....for Haiti

Do you think we could do it? That was the question that started it all six years ago. The "it" was to walk from Morrow Park at 3377 Bayview Ave. to their home at 74 Wellesley St. West. The "we" refers to Sisters Teresa Garvey and Theresa Rodgers. And that was how it all began.

That first walk was just for fun. The next year the T(h)eresas decided to walk to raise funds for Haiti, and so it has been each October since.

Five years of Fontbonne Ministries

Five years ago, Joan Breech (left) began her work with the Sisters of St. Joseph as administrator of Fontbonne Ministries. To celebrate, General Superior Sr. Margaret Myatt (left) surprised her on Aug. 8, 2005, with a cake, roses and a gathering of staff involved in Fontbonne over the years.

Joan reminisced about the lunch with Sr. Margaret, an occasion that resulted in her taking on this task. Thanked for all she has accomplished, Joan in turn thanked everyone for their efforts

A Month for Marches: Sr. Jean Leahy reports on two walks

On March 19, 2005, the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, several Sisters joined with thousands of others not only in Nathan Phillips Square but all around the world in protest of this war. After listening to impassioned speeches, we marched up University Avenue, past the U.S. Consulate, up to College, across to Yonge Street, down Yonge to Queen and then returned to Nathan Phillips Square where more protests to the war and calls for PEACE were heard. May this call grow stronger and stronger!
