Village Mosaic Receives Gem of the Lakeshore Award

Congratulations to the sisters and volunteers at Village Mosaic who won a Gem of the Lakeshore Award on May 10. The winning team in the first year of operation are pictured above left to right: Sisters Elaine, who offers foot care; Anne Marie Marrin, Director; Marie Allen, holding the award, who teaches bridge; Conrad Lauber who coordinates programs; and Jean Gove, receptionist and euchre player; all assisted by volunteers, particularly Ursula Matthews.

WRP: Affordable Housing Champion

WRP Neighbourhood Housing was named an Affordable Housing Champion by the City of Toronto on June 3, 2010 at a meeting of the Affordable Housing Committee. WRP was one of the 21 public and private sector organizations honoured by the City for creating or having created over 3,000 affordable rental and ownership homes in 2010.

Sister Margaret Myatt CSJ, former WRP Neighbourhood Housing Board Chair, received a decorative hammer and a City scroll from Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti, Chair of the Affordable Housing committee, during a special awards breakfast. 

Celebrating the Sisters’ contribution to education in Terrace, B.C.

Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto attended the 50th Anniversary of Veritas School, in Terrace, British Columbia, for a weekend of celebration that started on Friday, May 21, 2010. Pictured left to right are Sisters Mary Catherine Doyle, Pat Connaughton, Betty Lou Knox and Mary Macoretta, with Bishop Gerald Wiesner OMI at the center. Friday featured festivities and speeches, Saturday a BBQ and dance, and Sunday featured a Thanksgiving Mass and pancake breakfast

Sr. Anne Schenck Receives the Richard Alway Award

A Woman of Distinction for Health and Healing

Over 1400 people applauded Sister June Dwyer CSJ as she and seven other women received the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Awards at a gala evening on May 12, 2010 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
