Additions to the Legacy Wall

A recent addition to Alumni Hall is the portrait gallery which includes the Legacy Wall, a collection of portraits of alumni and faculty of the University of St. Michael's College. On the Feast of St. Michael, Sept. 29, 2009, President Anne Anderson CSJ (Hamilton) and Principal Mark McGowan unveiled two additions to the Legacy Wall. Now Sister St. John O'Malley CSJ (Toronto) and Sister Frances Nims IBVM have joined this company, which includes Jacques Maritain, Hon. Frank O'Connor, Etienne Gilson, Morley Callaghan, Cardinal George Flahiff and Marshall McLuhan.

Hearst Diocese Returns the Blessings to Sr. Enid

On May 30, 2009, Bishop Vincent Cadieux (pictured right in the center) presented the Diocesan Merit Award to Sr. Enid Selke with Father Fernande Villeneuve, pastor of St. Patrick's Church, at hand. The following is Bichop Cadieux's address to the congregation as he presented this award:

"The Diocese of Hearst, from time to time, chooses to award The Diocesan Merit Award to one who has made a difference in the Diocese.

Sisters of St. Joseph Honoured with the Magis Award

Small circles of conversation in the aisles, between the pews, and in the foyer were evidence that this was a community of friends, gathering to worship in this Church. Words coming from the celebrant, readers, and homilist were welcoming, friendly, and inviting, while the full-throated hymn singing filled the sacred space.

Niagara School Board Recognizes Its Pioneers

It was an evening of accolades and tributes. On Feb. 24, 2009, the Niagara District Catholic School Board officially dedicated each of the meeting rooms in the Education Centre to a different religious community — all were pioneers in beginning Catholic schools in the area. Eight communities, including the Holy Cross Fathers, had between three to eight representatives present. We Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto were named and asked to stand.

Dr. Margaret Myatt ΑΣΝ, CSJ

Sister Margaret Myatt, pictured right, received a Doctorate in Sacred Letters from Regis College at the Convocation Exercises on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008. The ceremony took place at 12:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of Hart House, University of Toronto.
