Annunciation Parish Celebrates The Sisters' Contribution

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto are fondly remembered in Prince Rupert, B.C for their 76-year contribution to Catholic education in the city. An invitation was extended to the Sisters’ Leadership Team to have representation at the Annunciation Parish Centennial Celebration held from May 25 to June 1, 2008. Sisters Mary Macoretta and Bernadette Robinson, who had both served in Prince Rupert, flew from Toronto to join the festivities.

Plaques Celebrate Sisters’ Contribution at the House Of Providence

On Oct. 24, 2007, Providence Healthcare and Heritage Toronto held a "Heritage Plaque Presentation Ceremony" in the hall of St. Paul’s Basilica. Unveiled were two plaques celebrating the founding and operation of the original House of Providence 150 years ago by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto. The plaques, which tell the story of the House through text and photos, will be located on the grounds near St. Paul’s.

Sr. Kathleen Conway's Jubilee

Sr. Kathleen Conway's Jubilee was celebrated with a Mass on Nov. 12 at St. Julia church in St. Catharines. Concelebrants at the service were, l to r, Monsignor Vincent O'Donohue, Bishop Emeritus John O’Mara, Bishop James Wingle, Monsignor Wayne Kirkpatrick, and Monsignor Dominic Pizzacalla. Sr. Kathleen stands between them in the photo above.

During the service, the congregation applauded the mention by Bishop O’Mara of the 150 years of continuous committed service of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the St. Catharines area.

Celebration at Our Lady of Mercy

On Nov. 29, 2006, St. Joseph's Health Centre hosted an event in celebration of more than eighty years of service to the community of Our Lady of Mercy Wing. Prior to their merger in 1980, Our Lady of Mercy Hospital stood on its own, next to St. Joseph's, both in the charge of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto.

The Congregation Celebrates Its Jubilarians

On June 11, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto celebrated all the sisters having anniversaries this year with a mass, reception and dinner at Morrow Park. Below are the sisters whose anniversaries were celebrated this year.
