Commitment: Answering the Call

On the beautiful sunny morning of May 5, 2007, 62 CSJ Associates gathered at Morrow Park for the 25th annual CSJ commitment retreat. The theme was “Commitment: Answering the Call.” The keynote speaker was Sister Divinia Pedro, pictured above, who was a CSJ Associate for eleven years before becoming a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph.

CSJ Associates Retreat

Fifty-five CSJ Associates and Sisters arrived in Niagara Falls the evening of Sept. 8, 2006 for our annual retreat weekend at Mount Carmel Spiritual Centre. That evening, we enjoyed meeting old friends and greeting new ones at a reception in the lounge. Ann Mullan, on behalf of the Associates, presented Sister Roberta Freeman and Sister Grace Sauvé with a framed symbolic representation, done in lace, of the eleven associate groups coming together in an interconnected design.

Associates Assist Breakfast Club

Associate Isabel Whyte tells the story
At the Associates' Assembly Day in 1999, Sr. Margaret Feeley gave a talk about the Breakfast Club at St. Paul's School. The talk was accompanied by a video that showed the children enjoying breakfast, accompanied by workers and volunteers. Students from St. Bonaventure's School also help as part of their Confirmation program.

Commitment Day Retreat

Cathy Klopfer, a CSJ Associate, shares her experience of the CSJ Associates Commitment Day Retreat.

It was with great joy and renewed strength that on May 6, 2006, I attended our CSJ Associates Commitment Day retreat under the direction of Sister Anne Lemire and the planning committee.

Three new candidates, Helen Hicks, Nilda Laurino, and Dorothy Ormesher, made their first commitment. We welcomed them to the CSJ Associates with a liturgy and commitment ceremony followed by dinner.

Sisters Receive a Spirited Tribute

St. Columbkille's Parish in Uptergrove, Ontario, had a triple celebration at the eleven o'clock Aug. 14, 2005 mass. Their reasons for rejoicing: the 150th anniversary of the parish, the 100th anniversary of the building of the church and the contributions of the Sisters of St. Joseph to their parish. The mass featured a hymn composed by a Sister of St. Joseph, Be Thou King O Lord, a reference to the Sisters by the homilist and a tribute offered by Margaret Harris, Coordinator of the Lalemant Group of Associates.
