CSJ Associates' Retreat 2019

We are truly grateful for the wonderful Retreat Weekend held at Queen of Apostles Retreat Centre on September 13 ‐ 15. Twenty Associates and one Sister attended. Sister Susan Davy, CSJ presented on the topic, “Grace Is.”

Friday evening began with supper followed by a social allowing us time to connect with each other.

Sister Susan started her presentation with the following:
  • “free gift of God, not earned”
  • “God’s abiding love”
  • from the Catechism, “participation in the life of God.”
We reflected on what “Grace Is” for each of us. Our written responses were placed on a table for participants to read. Saturday morning began with the candle lighting for the Deceased Associates led by Ursula Matthews followed by Morning Prayer.

Sister Susan shared the types of grace:
  • sacramental grace
  • sanctifying grace
  • actual grace
  • charism is a type of grace
We reflected on our own charisms. Sister Susan addressed that as Associates, we share the charism of the Sisters; that is why we respond to the call. We shared stories of our own experiences of grace in our own groups.

Sunday morning began with the candle lighting for our Associates‐In‐Prayer led by Debbie Read followed by Morning Prayer. We heard that grace flows through gratitude and it is not happiness that makes us grateful but the other way around.

Father Peter McKenna, SCJ presided at our liturgies, our Reconciliation Service and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Throughout the weekend, Father Peter asked us to reflect on the following two questions:
  1. “At this moment, what is most clear to you?” and
  2. “At this moment, what is the request that God is making of you?”
Following Sunday Mass, Sister Georgette Gregory led our Renewal of Commitment and Missioning Ceremony, while being kindly assisted by Sister Anne Purcell.
