A Journey Through the Doors of Mercy

Faith Connections, the young adult ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, hosted a Hike and Prayer event entitled “A Journey through the Doors of Mercy” on April 26, 2016. Thirty participants had the opportunity to reflect on the wisdom of our Holy Father. Together we prayed, discussed, and entered into the mercy of God.

Pope Francis has declared December 8, 2015 through to November 20, 2016 a special Jubilee Year of Mercy. In this year all the faithful are called to “Be Merciful Like the Father” (Luke 6:36).

In his Papal Bull of indication of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy – Misericordiae Vultus (MV) – Pope Francis states: “The mercy of God is not an abstract idea, but a concrete reality with which he reveals his love as of that of a father or a mother, moved to the very depths out of love for their child … this is a 'visceral' love” (MV, 6). Pope Francis offers us input about how we can “Be Merciful Like the Father” and enact mercy concretely.
