CSJ Associates: Car Wash & Bake Sale

Ginny Dolighan, a CSJ Associate in the Holy Family Associate Community, shares her experience at an Oshawa parish fundraiser for World Youth Day.

Saturday, July 18 was our pairing together day with our youth prayer partners from St. Joseph the Worker Parish Youth Group in Oshawa. The Holy Family Associates offered to have a bake sale at their car wash fundraiser for their trip to the 2016 World Youth Day in Poland.

We were blessed with perfect weather, extra help from a couple of out-of-town grandsons, and an overabundance of delicious home baked goods.

For five-and-a-half hours straight, the cars lined up to get the best car wash in town. With time on their hands, our customers visited the bake table. The pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Father Eric Mah, also joined in the event and had his car washed.

The young people worked very hard, as did their youth leaders Debbie Read and Debbie Scott. To keep from baking in the hot sun, youthful pranks of spraying each other broke out periodically.

Thank you God for these wonderful youth, their leaders, and our CSJ Associates. The fundraiser towards the 2016 World Youth Day in Poland was very successful.
