2014 CSJ Associates Annual Retreat

"I mission you as a disciple of Christ to bring about union in love through your prayer, presence and actions." — Sister Thérèse Meunier, at the Missioning during Sunday Mass
Lots of laughter filled the conference room as 50 CSJ Associates met at a social gathering at the beginning of their weekend retreat on Sept. 19 to 21, 2014, at Queen of Apostles Renewal Centre in Mississauga.
The theme of the retreat, Meeting Jesus in our Daily Reality, was presented by Sister Sue Mosteller CSJ. "I do love announcing God's word!" was how Sister Sue started, and she went on to share with us her personal life experiences. Jesus meets us in our daily ordinary moments and encounters. When Henry Nouwen asked Sister Sue to sit and quietly be immersed in a painting, she could not tune in and so she asked "What are you looking at?” Henry replied, "Are you in it? Are you in the picture?" We need to look within our hearts where Jesus dwells.
Sister Sue led us to meet Jesus in the Scriptures by being in the story and become the person  Jesus engages with — the disciples searching for more meaning or like the Samaritan woman whom Jesus met in her weakness at the well, sixth hour, when
no one was around and Jesus asked her for a drink and offered his healing love. As we accept, we are changed with a new way of life: "You are my beloved! I love you as you are."
The most precious moments of the retreat were meeting Jesus at Mass, the Eucharistic Adoration and the reconciliation service. Other activities included a short movie, skits, rosary and faith sharing.  Many shared their gratitude for being a CSJ Associate which had helped them in their spiritual journey.
As we reviewed the weekend, one associate just wanted to hug Sister Sue. That's meeting Jesus with lots of love and yes, lots of laughter too!
