Parish mission with a difference
A parish mission is generally considered to be a time of renewal for the people of the parish. Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish is preparing for a mission from March 29 till April 1. But this mission will be a bit different. Instead of one speaker, Fr. Jim Hannah, the pastor, has invited Fr. Steve Vasek, OMI and Sr. Jean Fitzpatrick, SSC from Buffalo NY to assist 50 volunteers from the parish to prepare for the mission. Committees were formed and have been busy since last October.
It was the responsibility of the Prayer committee to prepare a prayer card with the prayer for the mission included. Sister Dorothy Grills was invited to create the symbol to be used on all of the communications going out from the parish. She did this on a 3ft.x 4ft. canvas, which Fr. Jim is having framed and which will become a permanent fixture in the church after the mission.
Fr. Jim, in his letter to the parishioners, said, ”This mission is for everyone in the parish, families, single people, men and women, young and old. I would ask you to seriously consider setting aside these four evenings from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., so that you can participate in this very important spiritual opportunity…”
I invite you to join in prayer for the success of this spiritual renewal for the people of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish.
