CSJ Associates’ Leadership Make History
April 13, 2008 was a special day for CSJ Sisters and Associates. Not only was it the annual commitment day for the CSJ Associates, it was also the historic day when the leadership of the CSJ Associates was handed over from the Sisters to the Associates themselves. The members of the new leadership team are pictured right (front, l-r: Eva Bowman, Carole Sauvé, Director, Mary Duffy; back: Ursula Matthews, Shannon-Lee Maguire, Assistant Director).
The commitment ceremony was celebrated within the Sunday liturgy in the chapel, closing the CSJ Associates retreat day on The Spirituality of Friendship with Sister Virginia Varley. This year, four Associates made their first commitment, receiving their Associate pins from Sister Margaret Myatt, see below.
After the Mass and the commitment ceremony came a festive dinner in the Sisters’ dining room. Following dinner, we thanked Sister Roberta Freeman for her valued directorship of the CSJ Associates for the past eight years. Sister Roberta, pictured below, in turn thanked all those who worked with her during this time.
We also thanked Sisters Marie MacNamara, Virginia Varley and Grace Sauvé for their tireless efforts on the training program and continuing guidance of the new leadership team. We welcomed the new leadership team and thanked them for saying “yes” to this enormous undertaking.
Lastly, no word of thanks is enough to express our gratitude to all the Sisters of St. Joseph for their love, guidance, support and inspiration to the CSJ Associates for the last twenty-six years.
The new Associates, members of the different communities, pose at the reception following the liturgy: l-r: Margaret Boehm, Holy Family; Patricia Fell, Lalemant; Marissa Gonzales, Galilee; Maria Santos, Providence.
