2. Christmas

The Task of Making Peace: transforming the world from within

Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle;
the strength to be forgiving;
the patience to be understanding;
and the endurance to accept the consequences
of holding to what we believe to be right.

May we put our trust
in the power of good to overcome evil
and the power of love to overcome hatred.
We pray for the vision to see
and the faith to believe in a world
emancipated from violence,
a new world where fear shall no longer

Christmas Reflection: Today is born our Saviour!

In the liturgical year, we have now gone through Advent – the time of preparation for the sacred birth – and have arrived at Christmas, the time of celebration of the coming of Jesus. It is a time of great joy, since God has sent his Son to live among us.

World Day of Peace, January 1

Peace Thoughts, Prayer and Song

The Lord says: My plans for you are peace and not disaster.
When you call to me, I will listen to you.
—Jeremiah 29:11-12

When we hear these words and listen, we understand that God desires peace on earth for us and waits for our willingness.
