National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples

Since 2002, December 12 has been the National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. Let us pray for and with our First Nations People in Canada, asking God to bless them on this day and all days. 

Reflections on World Food Day and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

This fall, Sisters and staff have participated in events and written reflections in order to honour World Food Day which is observed on October 16 and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, observed on October 17. 

Reflecting on the Great Lakes Water Walk

To bless the waters of our Lake Ontario watershed, the walk along the Toronto Waterfront Trail on September 24, was led by Anishinabek Nation Grandmother Josephine Mandamin, elder Shirley Williams and other women knowledge holders. Traditionally, women are the carriers of water.

CSJ Calls on Government to Improve Refugee Program

Sister Pat Boucher, on behalf of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, recently wrote a letter to the Prime Minister and Minister of Immigration calling on them to expedite private sponsorship and to accept at least 20,000 UNHCR-recommended refugees into Canada each year. Associates’ Annual Retreat 2017

The Associates’ Annual Retreat this year was entitled The Lace Isn’t Finished Yet and occurred at Queen of Apostles Retreat Centre in Mississauga from August 25 to August 27. The facilitators were Sister Dorothy Schweitzer, CSJ, and Sister Theresa Rodgers, CSJ.
