With the recent election of Pope Francis and the focus on the role of St. Francis of Assisi in "rebuilding the church," it is perhaps serendipitous that our presenter is a Capuchin Franciscan, Father Michael Crosby OFM, who sees a challenge to all the church: to return to the basic message of Jesus, a message that is supported, not contradicted, by advances in science and cosmology.

Theology on Tap: The Challenges of the Contemporary Church

Faith Connections invites young adults (19 - 39) to an evening of thought-provoking theological discussion in a comfortable setting. On Monday, May 27 at 7 p.m., Cardinal Thomas Collins, Cardinal-Archbishop of Toronto, will speak about his recent experiences and the challenges he sees for the Canadian Church in the context of the New Evangelization and the Year of Faith. There will be snacks and a cash bar.

Moving Toward Wholeness Workshop from the Church Council on Justice and Corrections

Moving Toward Wholeness is a daylong workshop to be hosted by the Church Council on Justice and Corrections during National Victims of Crime Awareness Week (April 24, 2013).  
Through a keynote talk by Wilma Derksen, presentations by specialists, and group discussions, we will explore the preparations necessary for restorative processes.
