Scarboro Interfaith Department - Christian perspective on Mercy

On Tuesday, March 8, there will be a talk from Dr. Murray Watson, Roman Catholic professor of Biblical Studies and Interreligious Dialogue.

Scarboro Missions - Muslim perspective on Mercy

Pope Francis encourages that this Jubilee Year of Mercy be a time of ongoing dialogue for all of us so that we might know and understand one another better and work to bring a better world for all.
 
On Tuesday, March 22, Dr. Hamid Slimi will speak on the Muslim perspective of mercy. Dr. Slimi is a Canadian Imam and scholar, a community developer and a religious leader of Islam in Canada, Current Chair and senior lecturer of the Canadian Centre for Deen Studies (Muslim Theological Seminary).

The Theology of the Body

Today's culture is all about the body, beauty, love and relationships. Did you know that God and the Church are, too? This Theology of the Body workshop offers training to teens, young adults, parents, teachers and catechists.
 
It is presented by Sister Helena Burns, FSP and takes place every Saturday of April from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with Mass at 5 p.m.
 
Sister Helena is a member of the Daughters of St. Paul. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Theology and Philosphy from St.

Lectio Divina with Cardinal Thomas Collins

Lectio Divina ("divine, or sacred, reading") is the name given to a spiritual tradition among Christians over the last two thousand years. This form of prayer involves three distinct stages: a) reading a short scripture passage b) reflecting on the passage and c) a short period of silence.
 
We begin with Vespers (Evening Prayer) at 7 p.m., followed by Lectio Divina from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.
 
All are welcome to join Cardinal Collins for this special evening of prayer.
