Every weekday morning during the school year, between 75 and 100 children are warmly welcomed at the Breakfast Club of St. Paul's Basilica in Toronto. There, parish assistant Sister Margaret Feeley and 4-6 volunteers serve up a complete breakfast: it may be pancakes, or scrambled eggs or French toast or cheese on toast, accompanied by cereal and hot chocolate and juice.
The Cardinal Carter St. Paul's Breakfast Club started small, through the kindness of former pastor Father Tom Day who made breakfast for a few hungry children in the basement kitchen. Today, many more children gather to share conversation, friendship and nutritious food in an atmosphere of Christian love.
When asked how she was celebrating "Random Acts of Kindness Week"(Feb.14-20) Sister Margaret replied, "I hope we celebrate it every week."
