The Hamilton CSJ Companions and Sisters invited the CSJ Associates of Toronto to celebrate the 400th birthday of Father Médaille’s at the Hamilton Motherhouse on November 20, 2010. Pictured at left with Mary Huan in pink at her side, Sister Doreen Kraemer, a Sister of St. Joseph of London, facilitated the topic on “Living from Our Rich Heritage”.
Sister Doreen took us through the teaching of Father Médaille who with a small group of women founded the CSJ congregation over three hundred and fifty years ago. We also learned different contemplative practices that will enrich our prayer lives. “The Portrait of a Daughter of St. Joseph” by Fr. Nepper helped us to visualize how we are called to be a light to this world as a Sister/Companion/Associate.
We listened, sang, shared, meditated and had a meal together. How easily we mingled with the Sisters and Companions – as if we had known them before! We all agreed that it must be the oneness of our CSJ spirit and charism, gifted to us by Father Médaille, that made us feel so at home.
There were six CSJ Associates from Toronto who attended, namely: Ursula Matthews, Jo McLean, Bernadette Mendonca, Marguerite Doran, Agnes Kong and Mary Huan. We hope that there will be more opportunities to come together with other CSJ congregations in the near future.
