Sr. Margaret Myatt, General Superior of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, is one of the four new honorary member inducted into the Regis College Chapter of Alpha Sigma Nu. To celebrate its 75 years, Regis College inducted these individuals into this International Jesuit Honor Society.
“Each honoree has played an integral role in our history,” said Father Joseph Schner, SJ, presider at the Mass and President and Rector of Regis College, in his homily prior to the induction ceremony on October 26 at Regis' Elliott MacGuigan Hall.
“A leader in the field of medical care, she has served the common good in society by her numerous involvements in the politics of health care…she has taken a leading role in the fight against poverty and has concerned herself with the formation of youth in the Church and society,” was how Regis described the accomplishments of Sr. Margaret in the ceremony programme.
Other honorary inductees included The Reverend George Sumner, Principal of Wycliffe College, Sr. Kathleen McAlpin RSM, a member of Regis’ faculty, and Father Daniel LeBlond S.J., provincial superior of the Jesuits of French Canada. Eight students were also inducted into the honor society.
This society was founded in 1915 at Marquette University to honour a select number of students each year based on scholarship, loyalty and service. Honorary members who display these outstanding qualities are also sought.
Last year, Sr. Virginia Varley, another Sister of St. Joseph, was also inducted into this society.

Inductees, left to right: Sister Margaret Myatt CSJ, Peter Saengthien S.J., Christiaan Jacobs-Vandegeer, Fr. Mark Robson, Charles Falzon, Susan Stott-Hood, Anthony Pignataro, Ann Sirek Eperjesi.
