Sister Nida Fe Chavez

On January 24, 2004, in Morrow Park's chapel, Sister Nida Fe Chavez CSJ made first profession, joining the Sisters of St. Joseph and taking vows of chastity, poverty and obedience for the next three years.

She was received into the congregation by her general superior, Sister Margaret Myatt CSJ, and all the Sisters present, with the words, "Sister Nida, with gratitude to God who has called you, we celebrate and affirm your oneness with us as a Sister of St. Joseph. We promise to support you and encourage you and join with you in loving tenderly, acting justly and walking humbly with God."

Fr. Michael Machacek presided at the joyous Eucharistic liturgy, with Fr. Celerino Reyes SJ and Fr. Richard Macdonald SJ as concelebrants. In his homily, Fr. Michael spoke of the many remarkable Sisters he has known and worked with and reminded Sister Nida that she was joining "an order of giants."

After the service, everyone gathered in the Morrow Park dining room for the reception.
