New prayer series

As Christians there are many values that we need to strive to adopt in order to live our Christian life. Our new prayer series will highlight one value each month that will help us on our Christian journey. It is by practising these values that we will keep "in step" with Christian living.

Keeping 'In Step' With Christian Living

It is said that a visitor to Canada was baffled at the perfect harmony of the famous Canadian Mounties' Musical Ride and could not understand how those horses could possibly keep in step and be so perfectly synchronized each time they danced in rhythm with the music. Then she discovered the secret. The reason is that the musicians are right there ready to respond as they keep in step with the dance of the horses, and not vice versa. This came as a surprise and solved the bewilderment of our visitor. It made horse sense to her!!

"In Step" With Gospel Values

This analogy can be applied to our Christian life. As individuals we are trying to keep 'in step' with Gospel values. The values are the ways that we can be 'in step' with the melody of our Christian life. This melody is not always easy to dance to. But God, the master musician, is always with us responding to our every step along our Christian journey.

To be 'in step' with Gospel values is to be led to a deeper relationship with God, with others and with creation. To be 'in step' with Gospel values is to become more and more the persons that God wants us to be.

Monthly Steps: Praise, Simplicity, Wonder, Gratitude ...

In our prayer page we will offer a monthly reflection that may help you keep 'in step' with the Gospel values. Some of the values that will be part of our dance steps on our Christian journey will be hope, acceptance, awe, compassion, forgiveness, gratitude, peace, perseverance, prayer, and wonder.

We invite you to spend time each month with one of the Christian values on our prayer page. Through reflection and action you will be keeping 'in step' with your Christian life and discovering a personal God who plays the music in rhythm with your dance steps, who accompanies you with each step you take.

STEPPING IN HOPE

For each one the rhythm will be different. For each one God's tune will be unique. For Jean Vanier, it was the value of hope that put him 'in step' with his life journey as he reflected on the Gospel of John:

What I share... is the music I have heard behind the words and the flow of the Gospel of John. I have listened to the song, which warmed and stirred my heart...gave hope and meaning to my life, with all that is beautiful and broken within me, and meaning to this world in which we live. I want to sing this song... so that others may sing it and together we may be...singing a song of hope.

We each have a song to sing. We each have a dance to dance. Let us sing our song, let us dance our dance, as we get in touch with the tune that will put us 'in step' with the heart of God for us.
