PROGRAM DIRECTOR:
MUSTARD SEED / IN GOOD COMPANY
FULL-TIME POSITION
PURPOSE:
To manage the operations and administration of Mustard Seed and In Good Company in accordance with the mission and values of Fontbonne Ministries, Sisters of St. Joseph, Toronto and to support the Ministry Directors in their work.
ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Ministry Directors and staff, manage the day-to-day operations, including staffing, volunteer coverage, record-keeping, accommodation of visiting groups and space allocation
- Supervise staff and volunteers and assist with training, scheduling and support
- Implement policies and guidelines specific to the Ministries
- Coordinate the collection of data and statistics for reporting purposes
- With the Administrator and in consultation with the Ministry Directors, identify staffing and volunteer needs
- Represent Fontbonne Ministries, Mustard Seed and In Good Company at local community meetings
- Explore and develop resources and opportunities for collaboration with local community groups and referral agencies
- Work with the Administrator and Ministry Directors for planning and implementation of long-term goals and directions
- Be a supportive member of the team for the Ministries
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate degree in social work or theology, or equivalent
- Comfortable working in a faith-based non-profit environment committed to social ministry
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, teamwork orientation, ability to motivate a wide range of people, sensitive to issues of diversity
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage projects; strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to work independently and as a team member with all levels of staff and volunteers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Willing to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
- Experience with Microsoft products

FAITH CONNECTIONS PROGRAM DIRECTOR
11 MONTH FULL-TIME CONTRACT POSITION
(APRIL 30, 2012 – MARCH 15, 2013)
PURPOSE:
To assist in the management and implementation of all aspects of Faith Connections, a young adult (18-39) ministry of Fontbonne Ministries, Sisters of St. Joseph, Toronto.
ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Faith Connections team, manage and run the day-to-day operations including the following areas:
- Young Adults – identify spiritual needs of young adults and respond to these needs by: one-on-one meetings, providing resources, contact with other young adult ministries, and keeping Faith Connections programming current and relevant
- Programs and Events – preparation, implementation and evaluation
- Volunteers – recruitment, training, and communication
- Network and Collaboration – keep appraised of networks with and for young adults, make new connections, maintain Faith Connections’ network, and identify opportunities for collaboration
- Resources – explore and develop resources
- Be a supportive member of the team for the ministry
- Meet regularly with Faith Connections staff, administrator, and ministry director
- Assist the ministry director in developing and implementing ways Sisters can participate in the ministry
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree; graduate work in religious studies an asset
- Comfortable working in a faith-based environment
- Experience working with young adults (18-39 year olds)
- Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage projects; strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to work independently and as a team member
- Efficient with Microsoft products
- Valid driver’s license and ready access to a vehicle
- Able to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends)

Volunteer Opportunities
Children's pottery class assistant:
At Studio on the Hill, Fontbonne Ministries, Sister Helen Kluke offers a wide range of people the chance to work with clay in a safe, non-stressful environment. All are welcome: men, women and children of all ages as well as people with disabilities, including those who are visually impaired. It is located at 967 O’Connor Drive (O’Connor, north of St. Clair).
We are currently in need of assistants for the Wednesday afternoon children’s pottery class. This would be an excellent position for high school or college students who want to share their love of pottery with enthusiastic children. This would also be an opportunity for high school students to fulfill their 40 hours of volunteer work

In Good Company A friendly visiting and helping program
Friendly visitors needed to visit lonely and isolated people in their homes, providing a friendly listening presence. Must be prepared to make a time commitment of at least 8 hours per month. Training and peer support provided.
